Monday May 18, 2020 7-8 pm – AEE-LI Zoom Webinar Meeting – RSVP Required! Joseph Lopes to present on Covid-19 impacts on Downstate NY System Loads

On Monday May 18, 2020, the Long Island Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers was pleased to welcome our own Joe Lopes, Secretary/Treasurer of the AEE-Long Island Chapter, who presented on “Covid-19 impacts on Downstate New York System Loads” via ZOOM.

This presentation presented an analysis of the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) system loads for the Con Edison/NYPA and LIPA zones.  The analysis includes how they have been affected by the business shutdowns, “stay-at-home” directives and restrictions on selected operations in the Downstate New York area prompted by the efforts to limit the spread of the Covis-19 virus.

Mr. Joseph Lopes is a Senior Principal Consultant for DNV GL, with over 40 years of experience with utility applications such as load analytics, utility energy efficiency and demand response program evaluation, and regulatory support.  Prior to joining DNV GL in 2011, he co-founded Applied Energy Group and served as CFO, and worked for American Electric Power and Stone & Webster.  His local clients include Con Edison, New York Power Authority (NYPA), LIPA/PSEG-LI, and National Grid.  He has also served as Secretary/Treasurer of the AEE-LI Chapter since 2004.
