We are pleased to welcome Areebullah Saifullah Syed, who will present on “Powering the AI Economy: Repowering America’s Wind Fleet and Expanding Transmission to Meet the Next Decade of Load Growth”
The United States is entering a period of significant demand growth driven by AI, data centers, and electrification. At the same time, a portion of the existing wind fleet is approaching the end of its operational life. Repowering these assets—combined with strategic transmission expansion—represents one of the fastest and most capital-efficient ways to deliver new capacity at scale.
Areebullah Syed is an energy infrastructure professional with a background in wind project development and transmission planning. He holds a B.S. in Engineering Management and an M.S. in Energy Management from NYIT, and has experience leading projects from early-stage development through execution. He began his career in wind energy, where he was responsible for identifying and mitigating project risks, managing land acquisition and right-of-way negotiations, securing permits, and overseeing capital deployment. His work focused on advancing projects efficiently while navigating complex regulatory and stakeholder environments.
He has since expanded into transmission development, contributing to high-voltage infrastructure planning and competitive bid processes. His experience spans routing and siting strategy, feasibility analysis, and aligning generation assets with grid capacity needs. Areebullah is particularly interested in the intersection of aging renewable infrastructure, emerging load growth driven by AI and electrification, and the critical role of transmission expansion.
