March 23, 2015 (Monday): AEE-LI Chapter Meeting – John Culbertson on Smart Batteries and Passive Optical LANs

You are hereby invited to join the Long Island Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers at our upcoming meeting, Monday, March 23, 2015 at 7 pm, to be held in Anna Rubin Hall Room 301, at the Old Westbury Campus of NYIT.  This meeting features a presentation by John Culbertson on Smart Batteries and Passive Optical LANs.

“Smart” Batteries manage a building’s demand fluctuations by discharging during peak hours, thereby lowering power bills.  Passive Optical LANs use “Fiber to The Desk Top” technology to save energy and costs.

Mr. Culbertson is well known in the technology industry and is a current founding board member of Long Island Software and Technology Network (LISTnet). An entrepreneur with extensive experience in sales and marketing, John has a vision for “Smart Grid”, and one of the founding executives for Cablevision Lightpath as well as the CTO/co-founder of Open Access, a fiber optic alternate carrier.  He has become well known in the areas of “Smart Buildings” and “Smart Cities” and has appeared in leading publications such as Newsday, Long Island Business News, and Fortune Magazine. He is a current member of USGBC-Long Island, Urban Green Council, NYC and a Con Ed Market Partner, Energize NY Finance Partner (PACE Financing) and New York Battery Storage Technology Consortium (NYBEST) Member.
