March 31, 2014 AEE-LI Meeting at NYIT Old Westbury – Solar Thermal Energy and Technology Trends

At our March 31, 2014 Meeting, the Long Island Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers welcomed Frank Proske, National Sales Manager for Solar Thermal for Stiebel Eltron, Inc., who presented on Solar Thermal Energy and Technology Trends. Frank Proske is a mechanical engineering graduate of Lafayette College. Stiebel Eltron is a Massachusetts based manufacturer of solar, heat pump, and tankless water heaters, with over ten years of solar energy business experience gained through his own company, Sun Spot Solar, and employment with A.O. Smith Water Products Company and Wagner Solar, a Boston based firm. He is also an adept technical trainer who also teaches at Infinite Solar School in Philadelphia. AEE-LI Sponsored CEM Prep Course and Exam March 17-21, 2014

The Long Island Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers sponsored a Five Day Preparation Course for the CEM Exam (for the second year) March 17-21, 2014 at NYIT Old Westbury Campus.

March 3, 2014 – Kay Kunzel, Passive House Designer

At our meeting of March 3, 2014, the Long Island Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers welcomed Kay Künzel, Certified Passiv House Designer / Architect – “raum für architektur” (space for architecture), who presented on Passive House architecture. Kay Künzel planned the first Passive House settlement in the Rhineland (Western Germany): a complete sustainable and ecological project fully provided with renewable energy. He is a specialist for calculating building physics and developing high efficient building services, supporting numerous national and international projects. For the past six years, he has been a lecturer at various academies in Germany and Austria for advanced training for “Certified Passive House Designer”. Since 2010 he has been lecturer at the Danube University Krems/Austria at the Department “Future Building Solutions” International Sustainable Design Master.

Nov 25, 2013 AEE-LI Chapter Meeting – Webex on ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems

At our meeting of Monday, November 25, 2013, the Long Island Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers welcomed Don McDonald, Director – Sustainability & Energy Management Systems, UL-DQS Inc., who presented a webex training session on ISO 50001, the global standard for Energy Management Systems for Engineers and Other Professionals.

Nov. 4, 2013 AEE-LI Meeting – Smart Grid Technologies and Opportunities

The Long Island Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers welcomed members and friends to our November 4, 2013 meeting at the Old Westbury Campus of NYIT. David Leopold and Bruce Germano of EC Infosystems presented on Smart Grid Technologies and Opportunities.

7/24 and 7/31/2013 Green Cap Lectures Series

The Green Cap Lectures were held on Wed. July 24 and Wed. July 31, 2013 at the Old Westbury Campus of NYIT (in-person) and the Manhattan Campus of NYIT (teleconferenced). Mr. Herbert E. Hirschfeld, P.E., lectured on “Energy Management and Submetering: Case Studies of Major Projects.”  There was a $50 fee and attendees received a certificate, a green cap and 0.5 CEUs.

3/18/2013 Five Day CEM Prep Course and Exam

The AEE-LI Chapter hosted the Five Day CEM Prep Course and Exam for the first time during the week of March 18-22, 2013. Twenty-four energy professionals completed the course. The instructor was Mr. Barry I. Benator, P.E., CEM, President of BENATECH, Inc.
